I’m one of those people that don’t truly feel ‘done’ with makeup or ready for life that day until I’m rocking some sort of eye liner.
I do mix things up depending on mood/look I’m going for an any given day, but a wing/liner flick of various shapes and sizes usually features in most makeup wearing days. I love the definition and instant confidence boost that comes with it!
This in mind, I’m always on the hunt for the ultimate, holy grail, game changer liner…and on the recommendation of fellow makeup artist and one of my favourite youtubers, Jessica Haze (mirrorsandhaze) decided to try this one! Jessica’s youtube review can be found here, it’s well worth a watch to see the liner in action!
LA Splash Cosmetics are mainly known for their highly pigmented, super long wearing and waterproof liquid lipstick ranges (more on those later…my collection maybe?). When I heard about their Art-Ki-Tekt liner, I had high hopes and had to try it, being the liner junkie that I am! I knew that it was a pretty new launch (2nd Dec 2015 in the US) and LA Splash being a US based brand I thought I’d be in for a long wait until its UK launch (if at all!) or get stuck with US Customs charges! I was wrong and excited to come across it, newly launched and in stock at Cocktail Cosmetics, a UK based shop specialising in harder to get US brands.
The Art-Ki-Tekt liner is currently available in one shade, ‘Chromate’ (black), and retails at GBP£9.95, EUR€12.56 for a .04 fl oz (1 ml) pen. The packaging is sleek and rose gold.
LA Splash Cosmetics say; “A high definition precision brush tip slim liner to achieve the perfect wing every time!”.
It also claims to be waterproof. Both the price point and the brush tip/style is comparable to the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner almost exactly! The applicator is a super fine brush style tip, allowing for complete control and a really precise placement. I found it really quick and easy to apply. Any liquid liner takes a bit of getting used to, but in my opinion, this liner would be a great liner for pros and liner novices alike. The pen itself has a good even flow of product and applies smoothly without any drag.
It does dry pretty quickly, which for me is great, but does mean that there is less play time/correction time if a mistake is made. I’d recommend keeping some oil based/dual phased eye makeup remover and Q-tips on stand by just in case. Extremely pigmented and rich intense black, it dries to a matte finish which I personally prefer. A lot of other liquid/pen liners that I’ve tried are good but not many are matte finish. Once on, the Art-ki-tekt liner doesn’t shift or transfer at all and definitely lives up to its water proof claim. It delivers all day wear and still looks perfect until you remove it.
Many long wear liners, in my experience, can be difficult to remove, this one isn’t at all. My usual eye makeup remover, Garnier Skin Naturals 2-in-1 Eye Make-Up Remover (affiliate link) which is dual phase but non-greasy and doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes, works perfectly.
I’ve been using the LA Splash Cosmetics Art-Ki-Tekt Liner for a month or so now, its still going strong and I love it! So far so seriously impressed, so much so I now have backups!
