I’m a huge fan of the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors* in particularly the pressed (powder) versions* and especially in the shade Pearl (Read more about all shades here). Although I do own the majority of the shades, Pearl just does it for me the most! Being pale, I often struggle to find a highlight that doesn’t just look like a blush topper and something that’s actually lighter than my natural skin tone and that actually highlights. I love how pearl doesn’t pull gold at all (like a lot of highlighters do) nor does it look frosty and cold on the skin…it just gives the most perfect luminous, soft focus glow!
At £32/ €38, it’s not cheap of course but in my opinion it’s worth every penny! That doesn’t mean that if I see a possible ‘dupe’ anywhere, I’m not going to look in to it and give it a go. I’ve spoken about another possible more affordable alternative before (read more here) and I think I’ve found another!
If you’re anywhere near a Primark/ Penney’s in the very near future (I can imagine this will be one of those products that sells out and then is never in stock/ hard to track down!) and are pale like me, you might want to grab one of these new PS… Mermaid Glow Highlighting Powders. They do come in 2 deeper shades too (gold tone and a more rose gold shade) so if not this one’s not for you, there should be one that is and that flatters your skin tone. I know as I’m sure you do too, know quite a few people that would sold on the name alone (you know I’m mainly looking at you Dearbhla!)…who doesn’t want to have a mermaid esq glow??
Anyway after swatching and playing with these velvety smooth textured highlight powders, I’m impressed! For the money I think they’re a brilliant more affordable alternative if you’d rather get spendy elsewhere instead or even if you’re new to highlighting and fancy giving it a try. They’re £3/ €3.50 so definitely not going to break the bank and have a whole gram more product than the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors do too. Although the Primark/ Penney’s highlight appears a bit more metallic/ frosty in the pan, it still gives a gorgeous glow rather than glitter finish and if anything is a slightly stronger highlight than the softer finish you get with the Becca.

Find the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector at Cult Beauty* or online/ in store at Space NK (UK wide and on Grafton Street in Dublin). And pick up the Ps…Mermaid Glow Highlight Powder from most larger Primark/ Penney’s stores.
