Whatever your feelings and opinions on lipgloss, there’s no denying that the glossy lip is having something of a renaissance at the moment…let’s call it a come back! (Anyone else LL Cool J rap that bit/ think Deadpool 2?) Liquid lipsticks and super matte finishes are definitely still around and holding their own but creamy traditional bullet lipsticks and glosses are back with a vengeance! They’re longer lasting, super shiny and a whole lot less sticky than lip glosses that have come before them…long hair, sticky lipgloss and wind, not the most ideal combo!
I’m still a huge fan of a matte lip, but have been loving the ease of throwing a gloss on recently. I usually pay way more attention to my eye makeup and go pretty smokey most makeup wearing days, so a gloss is the perfect fuss free lip and super easy to touch up. I feel like during the summer it’s just a lighter option and gives you a much needed moisture boost as well as making lips look fuller and smoother. Like I mentioned before, these new breed glosses are way less sticky than others and with that more comfortable to wear and are less likely to stick to your hair too. As the title suggests, I wanted to share a few of my fave glosses at the moment that I’ve been wearing a tonne! In no particular order…
Fenty Beauty – Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer in Fenty Glow.
I’ve spoken about the Fenty Gloss Bomb and my love for it here before. It’s a universal shade that I’m yet to see look anything but amazing on anyone! It’s a big tube (10ml of product, which although appearing spendier makes this one great value for money too!), with a big wand and an even bigger hit of super shine gloss! It smells addictively delicious (with it’s peach-vanilla scent, yum!), is non sticky and conditions your lips (that’s the shea butter) making them look instantly fuller and smoothed. I’ve recommended the Fenty Gloss Bomb to so many people and bought a lot as gifts too…everyone needs one in their life, or at least in their handbag! I love the formula so I guess shade extensions would be good, but with the Fenty Glow shade being actual universal (it actually is as apposed to many other things from various brands that obviously aren’t!) I’d repurchase this particular shade anyway so there’s no huge need. Super beautiful!

Lime Crime – Wet Cherry Lip Gloss in Naked Cherry.*
I loved (and fell for in a major way!) the hype and marketing visuals surrounding Lime Crime’s Wet Cherry Gloss Collection…so pretty, appealing and promising the ultimate, ultra glistening wet look lip! Lime Crime delivered with these lightweight, non sticky, super reflective high shine glosses. Available in 12 shades and in 2 finishes (‘Juicy Sheer’ gives a translucent burst of high shine colour and ‘Sparkly Sheer’ doing exactly what it says on the tin and is packed full of fine iridescent pearls to light up lips and make them sparkle). My top 3 favourite shades all happen to be the of the Juicy Sheer (no sparkle) formula, but that’s just personal preference. I really like the clear (Extra Poppin’) and the deeper (KVD Lolita esq) nude (Bitter Cherry) but my fave and the one I’ve been wearing loads is Naked Cherry. It’s such a perfect nude on my pale skin and not too peachy, it’s more on the slightly cooler/ beige pink nude side of things and I love it! Super flattering, loads of shade choice and smells lush! It comes in a similar size tube/ has a similar sized applicator to the Fenty, but the one criticism I have…it’s the same price as the Fenty, but you only get 2.96ml instead of 10ml! Massive difference there! That being said I’ve really been enjoying it and love the shade…the tube seems to be lasting a decent while too, but we’ll see!

NYX Lip Lingerie Gloss’ in Clear and Butter.*
Last but certainly not least…I’ve used other NYX glosses (mainly Butter Glosses and Butter Gloss Intense) which I still rate highly, but I’ve been really in to their new Lingerie Gloss! I love that they do a great clear gloss to use alone or over the top of anything and the shade Butter is gorgeous, an unusual cool tone light greige nude (you know me and and greige lips…yes!!). Including the clear, there’s only 5 shades at the moment…all nude but there’s pretty much one (or more) for all with them being such a beautiful sheer formula. The formula itself reminds me a bit of the Lime Crime Wet Cherry but these from NYX are a little more purse friendly at under half the price of the other two for a decent 3.4ml of product. These are again super lightweight, really comfy, non sticky also and deliver that flattering (and lip plumping) high shine finish. They smell so good…a light toffee vanilla scent, not over powering at all, just plain yum!

So there we have it! I’m sure there’ll be others and I’ll let you know when there are. Coming in to Autumn/ Winter…yes I do like a velvety matte lip, but I feel like glosses will definitely still be in my everyday makeup bag to keep that moisture going day to day especially when the weather gets colder. What are you feelings on gloss…love it or loathe it?? Are there any you love that I need to try??
