Current ‘Ride or Die’ Makeup Tag – Autumn 2016

OK, I’ve made it ‘current’, because this is something always subject to change! Even products I’ve used forever will be switched up in favour of others and for various reasons, it doesn’t mean I don’t love them anymore…change in season, mood, occasion, makeup trends, anything really and doing what I do, I’m always discovering possible alternatives…there’s new products being launched all the time that could take the title!

I’m pretty sure you’ll have seen/ heard of this ‘tag’ floating around for a while now, mainly on YouTube, but also in the world of blogging. It was super Guru and YouTuber Jaclyn Hill that originally came up with the tag. It’s basically a set list of makeup categories and the idea is to only choose your one true ‘ride or die’ favourite of each. That in itself I find quite traumatic as a Makeup Artist and makeup obsessive, choosing just one of each product is like asking a parent to choose their favourite child, haha!

Anyway, so here it is, I’ve decided to do it, my (current) ride or die. Main reason…I love these myself, either reading it on a blog or watching in a YouTube video, I’m so interested in other peoples so why not do my own and it’s something fun and a bit different to write about. Now this is my own personal ride or die, it’s been difficult enough cutting down my own list, if I were to attempt doing one for my professional kit, I think I’d probably spontaneously combust, ha ha! So…

➕ PRIMER – Too Faced Hangover X Primer (Available from Debenhams*)…this primer just makes my skin look and feel awesome and stops my more matte foundations looking caked or over done.

➕ FOUNDATION – Kat Von D Beauty Lock It Foundation (Available from Debenhams*) …read more about it here

➕ CONCEALER – Too Faced Born This Way Concealer (Available from Debenhams*) …read more about it here

➕ FACE POWDER – NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder (Available from Boots*)…I don’t like this powder as a powder foundation (which is what is it supposed to be), but love it as a setting powder. Exactly as the name suggests, it doesn’t leave your skin looking flat, but sets makeup beautifully, doesn’t cake with touch ups and controls my oil!

➕ UNDER EYE SETTING POWDER – Kat Von D Beauty Lock It Setting Powder (Available from Debenhams*)…read more about it here

➕ BLUSH – MAC Cosmetics Warm Soul Mineralize Blush (Available direct from MAC)…read more about it here

➕ BRONZER – Makeup Forever Pro Bronze Fusion (Available from Debenhams*)…specifically the matte shades, I don’t like a shimmery bronzer! Waterproof, long wearing, gives a natural warmth to the face without looking muddy.

➕ HIGHLIGHT – Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone (Available from Cult Beauty)…beautiful! I don’t reach for this everyday, but that’s mainly because of the sheer quantity of highlighters I own, ha ha. Flattering on the skin and gives the best glow. Becca is hard to beat! Read more about it here

➕ MASCARA – Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara (Available from Debenhams*)…does everything I want from a great mascara and wears all day without smudging. Also buildable and easily removed, unlike other waterproof formulas! Read more about it here

➕ LIPSTICK – MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Blankety (Available direct from MAC)…always has been and always will be my favourite. I normally favour a matte lip, but this is just too beautiful! You can switch up the colour by using different liners too. It’s hydrating, lasts a decent length of time and feels great to wear.

➕ LIQUID LIPSTICK – Kat Von D Beauty Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Bow N Arrow (Available from Debenhams*)…applies really well, feel comfy on the lips, doesn’t move and is the most beautiful, wearable nude!

➕ LIP GLOSS – NYX Butter Gloss in Fortune Cookie (Available from Boots*)…non sticky, moisturising, smells amazing, really enhances your lip shape.

➕ LASHES – Ardell Wispies (Available from Boots*)…as much as I love all the faux mink beauties that are around at the moment, you can’t beat these for comfort and giving a beautiful fluffy full, but natural look!

➕ EYE SHADOW PALETTE – Anastasia Beverley Hills Modern Renaissance Palette…this is unfortunately sold out everywhere at the moment, but I do believe it’ll be restocked, sign up for email alerts at cultbeauty.co.uk so you’ll be the first to know when! It’s well worth it. Beautiful, buttery eyeshadows and a great colour selection for loads of different looks!

➕ SETTING SPRAY – MAC Prep + Prime Fix + (Available direct from MAC)…so this, while technically not a setting spray, it is a finishing spray and I use it for everything! I would miss it badly if I forgot to pick one up, can’t live without this stuff!

➕ PERFUME – Jo Malone Blackberry and Bay (Available direct from Jo Malone)…I have a wedding scent and others I love, but I’m addicted to this and wear it most days!

(Not technically part of the OG tag, but I’m going to add the cheeky extras bellow myself, as I’d be interested to know your favourites!)

➕ LIQUID LINER – Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper (Available from Debenhams*)…cult favourite for a reason! I love how quick this applies, it’s super precise, really black and doesn’t shift!

➕ GEL LINER – Inglot Gel Liner in 77 (Available from inglotuk.com and inglot.ie)…blacker, smoother and better than the rest!

➕ BROW PRODUCT – Anastasia Beverley Hills Dip Brow (Available from Beauty Bay)…I have a variety of colours in this depending on my hair colour. It’s long wearing and such a versatile product allowing a full, feathery natural brow, or something a bit more defined (I feel the the word ‘fleeky’ would be appropriate here, but I just can’t bring myself to say it! Ha ha)

➕ CONTOUR PRODUCT – Makeup Geek Contour Powder in Break Up (Available from Beauty Bay)…read more about it here

There it is! Traumatised, ha ha. That was so tough and just to choose just one of each, ugh! I nominate you all, anyone who wants to do it. Blog it and send be the link or even do it in the comments here…I’d love to know what your ride or dies are!
