Getting to know – Kat Von D Beauty

I’m sure you all already know by now, but just in case you’ve somehow missed it…Kat Von D Beauty’s coming to the UK and Ireland!!!

With the (long awaited!) UK and Ireland launch of Kat Von D Beauty imminent, I thought now would be a good time to familiarise you (if not already) with one of my all time favourite beauty/ makeup brands. It’s a long time favourite too…I don’t think a lot of people realise, as the brand seems to have only become super popular and properly talked about over the last few years, that it’s actually been around since 2008 when it was US makeup mecca giant Sephora that approached Kat about creating her own makeup line. The rest is history and the brand continues to grow, improve and become more readily available on a global scale…currently a Sephora exclusive, the line is coming exclusively to Debenhams in the UK and Ireland! The brand’s reached cult status in the US, with her Studded Kiss Lipstick in the shade Lolita, being the US’s number one best selling lipstick (I can see why! It’s also an amazing achievement and says a lot about the brand’s popularity!) and looks to follow suit here!

My own first Kat Von D Beauty experience was back in 2011 and I’ve been addicted ever since! We’d been on honeymoon in Maui, Hawaii (I know right?? Can’t wait to go back!) and were on the second part of our trip in LA. Apart from all the usual trappings of an LA visit, pretty much the main reason for that particular trip, was for tattoo appointments at Kat Von D’s LA based shop, High Voltage Tattoo. Our Tattoo Artist Adrian Gallegos works there (he is amazingly talented and I’m hoping to book in again in the not too distant future! Check his work out on instagram here), but I was also lucky enough to meet Kat and her strangely beautiful and very cute hairless Sphinx cat, Piaf. Pretty much the highlight of my trip, as well as being excited about my tattoo, was meeting Kat, as I had been following her (of course not literally! Ha ha) and her work since she was on the Miami Ink, then LA Ink TV shows. While waiting for my appointment, between checking out the famous mural on the back of the shop and grabbing food, I went next door to her Wonderland Gallery, which as well as all the incredible art work, books, jewelry/ accessories/ apparel and curiosities, there was a stand filled with Kat’s beauty line. There was heart eye emoji aplenty going on and lets just say far too many dollars were spent, but that’s where my Kat Von D Beauty obsession began!

Kat’s artistry, pure talent, personal style and clear passion for makeup are clear to see with the hugely personal to Kat and much loved Kat Von D Beauty Brand.

So yeah, unless during a US visit, I’ve been picking my products up from Sephora.com which I’ll likely do a blog post on my Sephora experience at some point (Sephora do have exclusives etc, as well as stocking other brands I love, so will still order from them), but it’ll be amazing to finally be able to get hold of some of my favourite and most used KVD Beauty products eventually in store and get them online at Debenhams too. Oxford Street will be the flag ship (hopefully following that, rolling out to other of the larger Debenhams stores) Kat Von D Beauty store in the UK…you’ll be able to shop the line there in store from October 5th 2016 and able to shop the range online on debenhams.com* and debenhams.ie* from September 13th 2016! In preparation for all the shopping, there’ll be further posts coming up on the blog, top picks/ reviews etc to hopefully point you in the right direction if undecided what to get, so keep those eyes peeled!

Kat Von D Beauty really is a brand for all. Unique products and formulas, amazing shade ranges, bold and unapologetic! Such care, time and creative effort has been put in to not only the products themselves, but also to the stand out, beautiful packaging! The brand nurtures creativity in beginners and pro’s alike, a brand for any level of makeup junkie, enthusiast, obsessive! Socially conscious…Kat Von D Beauty has and will always be cruelty free. A fairly large amount of collections/ shades within the line are already vegan (for those interested, here’s exactly what is), with Kat striving to achieve a fully vegan brand in the future.

Ahead of the UK/Ireland launch… Kat Von D has come up with a limited edition (be quick!) taster collection of three of her own favourites as well as cult favourite minis (including Tattoo Liner, Studded Kiss Lipstick and Everlasting Liquid Lipstick) in the ‘London Calling’ Fearless Favourites set. Like I said it’s limited, so won’t be available for long, but it’s a great way of trying out a few products from the line before going for the full size. You can shop the set NOW and find out further details at Debenhams.com*.

Is it too early to write my Christmas wish list??    ?
