Melt Cosmetics Available Without Customs…Finally!! About Melt & Melt Must Haves!

As you’ve already gathered from the title…US cult brand Melt Cosmetics has finally arrived on UK soil and is now being stocked at BeautyBay.com* which basically means, all us rest of World/ European/ non US folk can now shop Melt products without customs charges! They’re not stocking the entire line straight off the bat, but there’s a decent amount already and hopefully more will be introduced! If you’ve been here a while, you’ll know that Melt is one of my all time favourite brands and I’ve shopped from their US site for the longest time. In my opinion the products themselves are totally worth customs charges, but no customs charges are always going to be better if the option’s there right?!

Melt Cosmetics is one of the biggest independent brands in existence and was founded in 2012 by Makeup Artists Lora Arellano (@lora_arellano) and Dana Bomar (@danabomar) They had a combined 10 years experience in the makeup industry, specifically retail and invested their knowledge, passion and life savings in to creating 5 shades of highly pigmented matte lipstick that sold out almost instantly after launching online in May 2013! Check out Melt’s ‘about us’ YouTube video here, their story in their own words and well worth a watch!

Melt has developed a true cult following over the years and encourage freedom of expression through makeup and for their customers to be as unapologetically themselves as Dana, Lora and the rest of the Melt crew are. With their innovative products, boundary pushing shades and super high quality formulas…there’s no surprise that Melt Cosmetics are one of my all time faves! I’m going to share some of my ride or die Melt products and things that are so good in my opinion, you really need to own them! Melt are of course cruelty free and most of their products are Vegan too!

Starting off with something that Melt are most known for…their eyeshadow Stacks. There’s 8 stacks available now in total. You can buy the magnetic shadow shades individually (as well as the Stack Mirror and Pro Palette too) from the Melt website only at the moment. I love the Melt eyeshadow formula! Smooth, highly pigmented and they blend like a dream. My personal favourite has to be the Dark Matter Stack*…I pretty much use it everyday in some way, shape or form! I’ve added more single shades to mine to make it the perfect everyday, any occasion Stack! (Would you want a dedicated blogpost on my everyday Stack with swatches and all the good stuff?? Let me know in the comments bellow!

Speaking of eyeshadow…their Gemini and Twenty Seven palettes! These are pretty new and both (so far) limited edition. At the moment you can only get these on the Melt website, but well worth picking up and keeping an eye out for if they do eventually come to Beautybay!* The Gemini Palette (above) is Lora’s and full of warm mustard neutrals and swampy olive tones. The Twenty Seven Palette (bellow) is down to Dana…if you’re in to warmer tones, this one’s for you. The Gemini Palette‘s so unique and although warm/ neutral eyeshadow palettes seem to everywhere at the moment, Twenty Seven’s shade and texture selection set it apart from the rest! I have a Twenty Seven Palette review with full swatches here if you want to see more of that one. They’re both so beautiful, even down to the packaging!

You’d never guess this was coming…but I’m a huge fan of Melt’s lip products too! Two of my can’t live without nudes ever are Melt Nood Matte Lipstick (a pale nude, yet doesn’t wash you out) and their Dreamboy Liquid Set Lipstick* (deeper sepia toned cooler nude). Their liquid lip formula is definitely one of the best in my opinion in terms of finish, comfort and longevity. Their bullet lipsticks are a little drier in texture, but last amazingly well and with a bit of proper lip prep pre colour application your won’t feel dry and they’re surprisingly lightweight on! If I’m not in a nude (which let’s face it, is pretty much most the time…you know me) and especially at this time of year, you’ll find me in their Death Cherry Liquid Set Lipstick*. The shade is how you’s expect it to be from the name really…a true deep cherry red, although I love that with this one you can build it up (without cracking or flaking) in to a super pretty vampy depth too. Pared with a winged liner, smoked out lower lash line and naturally glowy skin, Death Cherry is everything!! Equally gorgeous on minimal eye makeup days when worn alone…a statement lip is quick, effective and hella impactful! Melt have loads of lipsticks (liquid and bullet) glosses and liners to choose from, so you’re highly likely to find a shade or combo that’s your cup of tea! The Lip Liners* and Eye Pencils* actually are worth a mention…super creamy, pigmented, long wearing and both available in a great selection of cool different tones as well as your everyday essential shades!

A more recent addition to Melt’s family have been their face products, which I’ve become pretty obsessed with! There’s the Digital Dust Highlighters* (available in 3 shades…my favourite has to be Stargazer – above)…they’re the perfect ‘all day highlighters’. They last amazingly well on and have a smooth buildable formula so give you anything from a soft dewy glow to that wet look, glossy, blinding kind of highlight depending on mood and look you’re going for. The highlights themselves are embossed and look so pretty in the pan (it’s almost a shame to go in with your brush!), with no kick up at all they apply on to the skin super smoothly and with an even payoff over any other makeup. Sure they’re a little bit spendy, but you really do only use the smallest amount! A very ‘second skin’ finish from these guys which I love!

They have 2 blush formulas…the Blushes* and the Blushlights*. Both super pigmented, again a little goes a very long way with these so go easy to begin with! There’s 3 shades in the silky matte Blushes* (my everyday go to is the shade Honey Thief…it’s the perfect neutral flush that goes with literally any makeup look and suits pretty much everyone) and there’s 7 shades in the Blushlights*. The Blushlights are a really cool highlighter/ blush hybrid and multi use (highlighter, blusher, topper…whatever!). Extremely pigmented and smooth (not glittery at all)…they give a perfect radiance to your skin. My favourite shades have got to be Lynx (the perfect sun kiss for my fair skintone – would be a stunning natural highlight on a deeper skin tone…pretty on the eyes too!), Nevermore (a healthy hibiscus pink…I’m not a fan of pink as a general rule, but am really feeling this one now the weather’s getting colder and used sparingly it just gives a realistic and natural dewy flush) and Ghostlight (a celestial ‘glow from within’ with a warm gold shift…this one looks so pretty as a topper/ highlighter over other things or as an inner corner highlight on the eyes).

I’m so happy that Melt’s become way more accessible to us non US people thanks to BeautyBay*! And if you haven’t tried anything from Melt before, I’d definitely give something a go…I doubt you’d regret it! Hopefully BeautyBay will stock more/ newer products too in time, but Im glad I can easily grab essentials fast and can skip some customs charges!

I’ll still shop the Melt website for exclusives and newer products in the mean time…it’s relatively fast considering it’s coming from the US, is free international shipping on orders over $100 (the amount depending on where you’re shipping it too, but you’ll likely have a customs charge on top of that) and the customer service is second to none! Melt also do a REALLY good sale (sign up to their mailing list/ follow them on their social channels for the upcoming sale dates…I can imagine Black Friday/ 23rd November might be next!) and instead of selected products, they usually offer discount across the board and have lots of great bundle deals too! If you’re planning on picking up a lot (as I often need to)…the sales can be a perfect opportunity to stock up!

Let me know what your Melt essentials are and happy shopping! You can shop Melt Cosmetics now at BeautyBay* and as always on the Melt Cosmetics website.
