NEW Catrice – Rock Couture Extreme Volume Mascara Lifestyleproof & Rock Couture Vinyl Black Liquid Liner 24h – First Impressions/ Review – Cruelty Free & Vegan

I’ve spoken about the OG Catrice Rock Couture Mascara (and the waterproof version) before and why I think it’s a great affordable cruelty free mascara option (you can see more about them here)…for a drugstore mascara under a fiver it’s one of the best I’ve tried anyway but I find myself reaching for it a lot and often over my more high end mascara faves too!

Anyway…Catrice have just launched a new vegan ‘Lifestyleproof’ version as well as a new, also vegan, Rock Couture Liquid Liner 24h. The launch went under my radar…I have so many mascaras and liners that I’m either testing or loving/ using up at the moment, I just wasn’t paying attention. A friend was on the ball though (thanks Fi!) and remembering that I’d blogged about/ loved the OG version, recommended it to me when we were just away in Barcelona and I was able to pick it up along with the liner too!

Spoiler alert…this one is my favourite out of the 3 Rock Couture mascaras! I feel like it sits perfectly between the OG and waterproof version of the OG…with the best features of each rolled in to one and it’s vegan so inclusive too whatever your product preference. Here’s the rest of what you need to know about it…

✖Waterproof performance mascara for all day to day situations, 24h wear
✖Tear, sport and sweat proof
✖High pigment deep black
✖XXL extra volume formula
✖Specially designed fine elastomer brush for quick and easy application and guaranteed to enhance even the tiniest lash
✖Cruelty free and vegan ????????

The Rock Couture Extreme Lifestyleproof 24h comes in the same KVD Studded Kiss esq packaging just as the other 2, but with white lettering. Same moulded brush too which I’m not normally a fan of (I generally prefer a proper bristle brush), but I actually really like this one…it’s super fine and gives all the volume with no clumping, perfect! It maximises lashes (the other two do that too) but it lasts better again than the already long lasting OG one and is easier to remove than the waterproof while still lasting through anything…humidity in Barcelona and rain as soon as we got back!

Next up the Rock Couture Vinyl Black Liquid Liner 24h in deep black shade Blackest Sabbath (sold on the shade name alone!) which comes in similar packaging to the mascara which I love but just in a mini version. Also Cruelty free and vegan which is great and it boasts a high shine vinyl finish…it’s not matte by any means, but it’s not too glossy/ shiny either! (I’d probably like it less if it was super shiny though, so that’s not an issue for me). It has a super fine brush applicator and it’s really easy to get a nice precise line with it…even if you were new to liquid liner this would be a good choice and wouldn’t take much practice to make perfect.

The only thing I wouldn’t agree with is the 24h claim…it lasts well, but I wouldn’t say 24h. If I needed something to last 24h I’d definitely stick to either my NYX Epic Ink Liner* or KVD Tattoo Liner in Trooper (UK* / IE*). Even without weather and eyes watering etc, I’m a face toucher and that’s the main reason that this still lasts well but not as well as my 2 favourite liner pens. There is an advantage with this formula though…you can smudge it out really well for a softer look. Ultimately though…I like how it applies and how it looks, but it just doesn’t last long enough for me. I’ve only used it a few times so I’ll keep going/ try it over different bases and update you if it works/ stays put any better!

Another Catrice mascara success in my opinion, but I’ll reserve judgement on the liner until I’ve given it more of a go. I feel like considering how well the mascara preforms, I had high hopes for the liner and it’s just not quite there. It could be a great one to go for if you’re new to a liquid and likely to make mistakes as it’s easy to tidy up and doesn’t set too fast (silver linings and all that). The Lifestyleproof is by far my favourite of the 3 Rock Couture mascaras and definitely worth picking up if you’re in the market for a new one! Great formula and result, especially for such an affordable price!

Have you tried any of Catrice’s mascaras? Or any other good ones, drugstore/ affordable or high end that I should try?
