NEW Kat Von D Shade & Light Glimmer Eye Contour Palette – First Impressions/ Review & Swatches

KVD - Shade+Light Glimmer Eye Contour - Main Image

It’s here, it’s finally here! And I’m so excited that I was able to get my mitts on it! By the title you already know that I’m talking about the much hyped Kat Von D Beauty Shade & Light Glimmer Eye Contour Palette. Currently only available in the US and Canada online and now in store at Sephora and Kat Von D Beauty. It is limited edition, so don’t hang around but it will be launching internationally from September, so any fellow UK and Ireland or Europe and Aus readers…if you don’t want to order from Sephora, you’ll hopefully be able to get your hands on it then!
Let’s have a closer look!

As with other recent KVD launches and actually the whole line in general, the packaging is something else! KVD designs the packaging and does all the artwork herself and her talent and attention to detail is insane! The lettering on the external packaging is really eye catching holographic gold to reflect the glimmer shadows as apposed to the regular lettering on both of the matte Shade & Light Contour and Eye Contour Palettes. The palette itself is the new secure and sturdy plastic version Shade & Light Palette with the raised moulded KVD logo and product lettering. They used to come in a (still sturdy in all fairness) cardboard style with embossed logo/ lettering and they’re the ones I have. I’ve had mine for a good while now, they’re a little battered but well loved for sure! The Glimmer palette is the exact same size as the other two large Shade & Lights and also has the same size mirror spanning the length and width of the whole palette and with the KVD Beauty logo printed on it too.

Inside the palette has the same layout as the Shade & Light Eye with the shades themselves being similar tones and they’re grouped in the same way…L – R: neutral quad, cool quad and warm quad. They’re all neutral tones similar to the OG palette, but this time with a range of 12 shades in glimmer finishes for reflective dimension as well as shade and light.

Side note…pretty much the day before I received this, one of my eyes was really irritated so frustratingly I haven’t been able to play with this as much as usual apart from testing blendibility on my brow bone (I have no idea what from or maybe it’s a stye type deal ugh, mainly on my lower lash line but have minimised eye makeup wear just incase!) and by swatching the shades on my arm/ hand. So annoying and I can’t wait to have a proper play and use it for some eye looks! Keep an eye (see what I did there) on my Instagram, I’ll be posting looks and more of my thoughts about the KVD Glimmer as they happen.

It’s such a beautiful palette! If you’re a KVD Beauty fan or makeup lover in general I think you’re going to want to check this one out. I wouldn’t personally do a full glimmer/ shimmer/ glitter eye, I’d definitely still need my matte shades for contour and definition but the glimmer palette compliments the OG Shade & Light Eye perfectly! It would be a great addition to any makeup kit and it’s versatile, the base shades can also be used as face highlight!

Get the limited edition Kat Von D Beauty Glimmer Eye Contour Palette now from sephora.com and in store in the US/ Canada or from katvondbeauty.com.
