So after the success of adding cult favourite, Pixi Glow Tonic (read more here), which is now a ‘can’t live without’ staple, to my skincare routine, I wanted to talk about another genius Pixi product that’s recently grabbed my attention…the Pixi by Petra Glow Mist (Available from Cult Beauty). A winter skin saviour and handbag essential in the shape of a spray on, illuminating and hydrating, glow giving potion.
With the Glow Mist formula having such a high concentrate of oils, I was thinking this might leave my combination skin (drier at this time of year) more oil slick than hydrated and glowing, but I was wrong! It doesn’t feel heavy or look oily on the skin at all. This multi purpose mist is enriched with 13 natural, skin loving oils, including Argan Oil as well as hydrating and soothing Propolis and Aloe Vera. Fruit extracts give the mist additional hydration and a light, refreshing scent, without being over powering or irritating even sensitive skin (which mine can definitely be!).
I’ve been using the Glow Mist in so many different ways! (Make sure you give it a shake first to emulsify the product!) Post cleansing, a misting of it instantly refreshes, soothes, takes down any redness and normalises your skins hydration levels, as well as prepping your skin for your moisturiser. After moisturiser for an extra hit of hydration and a priming glow underneath your makeup (it can also be used in the same way after your regular primer, but before makeup). You can dampen your Beauty Blender (Available from Boots*) or complexion sponge (Available from Boots*) first as usual, but then mist it with the Glow Mist before applying foundation and concealer for a really smooth application and an extra bit of glow to any formula. This works really well with my fuller coverage, more matte finish bases, eg. the Kat von D Lock It foundation (read more here / Available from Debenhams*) especially. No one’s going to say no to a flawless finish and a bit of extra glow! I’ve also been using it, not so much to set my makeup, but just to finish it and settle any powder products that I’ve used for a more natural finished skin look as well as pretty much anytime I feel the need to hydrate/ refresh my face throughout the day. It can be used like other sprays out there, to intensify eyeshadows and pigments and can also be used to smooth down any fly away hairs too. My favourite way to use it…
After you’ve finished the rest of your makeup, give your skin a good misting BEFORE you highlight and apply your highlight while it’s still damp on the skin for the most amazing radiant glow…ever!! Obsessed! Love how it enhances natural highlighting, but you can go all out too if that’s what you prefer, so you’re seen from space. Either way, the mist allows your highlight to better adhere to your skin, gives a way more even finish to your glow and makes it last!
The only thing that I would change about the Glow Mist and a common issue with some facial sprays I’ve come across, is the actual spray nozzle/ dispenser. The spray’s not quite as fine as you’d like (and yes, I did find out the hard way by giving myself a soaking the first time!) and it does spray out pretty enthusiastically, ha ha! Don’t spray it too close to your face though and it’s not so much of an issue…from about 18 inches/ a slightly bent arms length away and it’ll give you a light and even mist. That said, I really do like the Pixi Glow Mist (Available from Cult Beauty) and will definitely be repurchasing it! It’s different enough a product to my other favourite and most used prep, complexion and setting sprays and it just makes my skin feel great! Hydrated, smooth and my highlight popping perfectly is reason in itself to use it in my eyes, being the highlight junkie I am! Another firm Pixi favourite!
