The Answer To My Redness Prayers? (The Ordinary – Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%)

So, I’ve been using the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% by Deciem Brand The Ordinary* for the last month or so now and spoiler alert…I’ve already repurchased a back up for when I’m finished with this bottle!

I’ve been trying quite a few products from The Ordinary and already have a dedicated post about their 2 new primers (read more about those here). I’m reserving judgement on the other things until I’ve given them a proper chance/ used them for longer, but I just wanted to share my thoughts on this first. I absolutely love it! It helps my skin so much and might help yours too!

It’s described as a ‘high strength vitamin and mineral blemish formula’ and designed to be applied before any other heavier creams and serums, morning and evening. Niacinamide (vitamin B3) reduces the appearance of blemishes and congestion on the skin and the Zinc…that helps to repair, controls sebum (oil production) and reduces inflammation. I do get really oily on my nose, so was thinking this might be good for that but also I hoped it might calm down my redness (which I do get mainly on my cheeks). I’d heard a few people using this for redness so thought it was worth a go!

Here’s some The Ordinary – Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% facts/features…
• PH 5.5 – 6.5 (the ideal level for ’normal’ balanced skin)
• Water based
• Free from – alcohol, oil, nut derivatives and silicones
• Cruelty free
• Vegan

My thoughts…the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% from The Ordinary* has fitted in to my daily skincare routine perfectly. Using it morning and night for the last month has made a noticeable difference to the clarity and tone of my skin. It’s reduced my redness and although I don’t generally suffer from acne, I do get the odd blemish and in my opinion because of this, any spot hangs around for a lot less time than before I started using this. I noticed it working in the first week of use! As always, everyone’s skin’s different, so it may work for you as it does for me or might not, however for the price, I’d definitely recommend to give it a try if you do have any redness or oily/ blemish prone skin. It’s visibly improved the general appearance of my skin and I consider this now an essential part of my skincare routine. So effective for such an affordable product, seriously impressed by this one!
