As you can tell from the title, this year I’ll be spending Christmas in Dublin. I’m looking forward to it, but having to make sure I’m organised…(loads to do and remember in very little time, you know what it’s like…I properly finish for my Christmas break tomorrow as you read this) and one of the things I’ve already done (’cause priorities ha) is put together my travel makeup bag. I’m hoping a good few of my days away will be no or minimal makeup days, but I’m not restricted with how much I pack this time and I want to have options if I decide to make more of an effort at any point!
I’m as always trying loads of new bits at the moment (and will talk about those in the new year!) but for a travel makeup bag, I always like to go down the tried, tested and trusted route…things I can rely on that work for me without having to think about it! This is more of a nosey post really (which I love myself), not going in to depth about everything (I’ll either have a dedicated post already if you search it and if not and you’d like one, let me know!)…but just showing you what I’m taking as well as a good overview of some of those tried, tested and trusted products. I’ll be taking/ doing my current regular skincare routine from last week’s post, if you missed it read it here!
So what’s in my makeup bag?? (The bag I’m taking everything in by the way is a black drawstring one from Primark/ Penneys for £3 ish if I remember…I can’t find a link for the exact one for you, but this one’s similar …it folds out flat so you can find everything easily then you just pull the cords and it folds up. That explanation was the worst, sorry ha).
✖️ BASE/ FACE
Primer: Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter* (in Fair 1)
Foundation: Too Faced Born This Way Foundation* (in Swan)
Concealer: Jouer Essential High Coverage Liquid Concealer* (in Creme)
and Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi Use Sculpting Concealer* (in Swan)
Powder: Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Pressed Powder* (in 1 Fair)
You all probably know by know that my skin’s combination but my skincare deals with that. I’m not a fan of a really flat finish and prefer a natural glow. Especially at this time of year, I’m all about trying to keep my skin plumped up/ hydrated and (apart from my oily nose) getting as much glow as I can without looking oily. I use the Hollywood Flawless Filter primer/ illuminator alone or just with concealer too for a healthy minimal makeup look. The reason for the two concealers…just shade, Jouer is closer to my skin tone and Too Faced brightens. I love how lightweight this powder is! Day to day at home I use multiple powders for different things just ’cause…but this a brilliant all rounder! Doesn’t look caky under your eyes, gets rid of oil without looking flat and gives a smoother finish and look…perfect!
Contour: Fenty Beauty Match Stix Matte Skinstick (in Amber)
Bronzer: Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder bronzer* (in Rosewood)
Blusher: Melt Cosmetics Blush* (in Honey Thief)
Highlighter: Melt Cosmetics Digital Dust Highlighter* (in Stargazer)
If you’re fair like I am, the Fenty contour stick’s a perfect and believable natural contour shade…very cool/ grey toned. The texture of the ABH bronzers means they’re virtually undetectable on, super blendable and warm up otherwise tired Winter skin a treat! I’ve spoken about my love of the Melt blushes and Blushlights before, Honey Thief is my everyday/ any look choice. The highlight’s one of my all time faves…I chose this one for it’s natural sheen that can be built up to blinding and everywhere in between. It’s also a beautiful neutral tone, so’ll go with any makeup look.
✖️ EYES/ BROWS
Eye Primer: Urban Decay Primer Potion* (in Eden)
Shadow: Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette* and Milani Soft & Sultry Palette (this seems to be out of stock everywhere atm 🙁 but keep an eye out for restocks at BeautyBay)
Liner: Kat Von D Beauty Tattoo Liner* (in Trooper) and Melt Cosmetics Eye Pencils* (in 1987 and Columbia)
I’m also taking a mascara, lash curler and tweezers…I’m undecided about lashes, but realistically I’ll probably take some and then not bother using them ha. My own lashes are actually decent enough with a few good coats of mascara fortunately!
Brows: Lime Crime Bushy Brow Pen* (in Brownie) and Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel*
I nearly always prefer to do more with my eye makeup, so two palette’s might be a bit extra but it means I have all bases (and moods!) covered. ABH Soft Glam has all the warmer essentials and Milani the same in cool, but not too cool! I never feel done unless my brows are, but I’m enjoying a softer/ fluffier brow moment and the combo of these two is perfect for an all day natural brow.
✖️ LIPS
Liner: Melt Lip Pencil* (in Foxy)
Lipstick: Melt Lipstick (in Nood), Melt Liquid Set Lipsticks* (in Dreamboy and Death Cherry)
Gloss: Fenty Gloss Bomb (or two ha)
I’ll be taking Dr Paw Paw Original Multi Purpose Ointment to keep my lips hydrated too. All my lip products are cooler toned nudes, apart from Death Cherry which is most beautiful deep vamp red shade…which again, I might not get the chance to wear but have just in case.
I’ll be taking brushes, blending sponge and my Superdrug B. Hyaluronic Acid Spritz…I’m obsessed with this stuff! I use it to finish, refresh, dampen my blender if on the move…it gives an extra hydration boost and just makes your skin and/ or makeup look loads better and fresher!
So hopefully I’ll be hydrated, glowy and generally more alive looking in Dublin over this festive season (especially after this busy pre Christmas bit!)!!
Are you all sorted for Christmas/ the Holidays? Any exciting plans??
I hope you all have a great one whatever you do (if you celebrate it or if not…I hope you just manage to take some down time for yourself) and eat, spend time with your special people or just Netflix and hibernate (which I plan to hopefuly do a good bit of myself!)…whatever you fancy and that makes your heart happy! Merry Christmas!
